Do you have a child with a diagnosed or suspected disability? Are you caring for both a child and an adult dependent?

The Families First Community Based Services for Families Program was established to offer support to families struggling to meet the needs of an aging family member and/or a dependent that has a suspected or diagnosed physical, emotional or developmental disability.

Information, resources, and limited funding are available to Waushara County residents with children under the age of 18 who are concerned about their child’s development. Conditions include physical disabilities, developmental delays, or emotional/mental health disabilities. Funding may be available to help with diagnosis, information gathering, equipment, respite, and other identified needs.

The program is also available to families who have children in the home (with or without disabilities) and who are caring for a dependent adult in their home. Funding is available to assist with caregiver needs such as cost of respite care, home modifications, safety bars, wheel chairs, supplies and home health care services for families who are not currently receiving other forms of assistance.

By offering this resource, the committee hopes to offer support to families experiencing stress. The funding is offered without regard to income or assets. The Community Based Resources for Families is support by the Heart of Wisconsin United Way and Waushara County’s Families First committee.
