Backpacks stuffed with school supplies for Waushara County Children Back to School Bash expects to serve close to 500 children on August 14th, 2010

Remember feeling excited, nervous and maybe even a little scared about starting the new school year? Well, it’s that time of year again! And parents, children and teachers all over Waushara County are starting to think about purchasing all those necessary items children need to be prepared for a successful school year.

Organizers for the Back to School Bash hope to outfit over 500 Waushara County kids with much needed school supplies this year. Last year the project equipped just over 500 children from low-income families with backpacks full of school supplies, helping ease the financial strain for many families and teachers.

During times of economic struggles, it is vital we put greater effort into supporting the education of our community’s children; they are the future!

The Waushara County Department of Human Services, CAP Services and members from School Districts across Waushara County are proud to sponsor the 8th annual Back to School Bash. They are looking to the community for support of this event. They need new and/or gently used school supplies, gym shoes and gym uniforms. Monetary donations are also greatly appreciated.
The Back to School Bash aims to promote school readiness and achievement, allowing children in the community to begin the school year with the tools necessary to be prepared to learn. This is a county wide project that will benefit all children in Waushara County who are in need of back to school necessities.

Donations can be dropped off at Waushara County Department of Human Services, 230 W. Park Street in Wautoma, or mailed to Back to School Bash, PO Box 1230, Wautoma, WI 54982. Checks should be made out to: Back to School Bash. Individuals should contact Rachel Frederick (920-787-6550) or Candice Lux (920-787-6600) for more information on how you can get involved.

Distribution will take place on Saturday, August 14th, 2010 beginning at 8:00 a.m. in the Demonstration Room of the Waushara County Courthouse, 209 South St. Marie Street, Wautoma. Items will be distributed on a first come, first serve basis; no early distributions will be approved. A $1 donation will be requested per backpack.
