Waushara Food Connections

Waushara Food Connections, a Vision 2020 committee, works to increase the availability and awareness of fresh local foods to residents and visitors of Waushara County. The group has created a Fresh Food Producers Atlas which is published on Page 95 in the free 2016 Central Wisconsin Waushara County Guide. You will find a list of farms where you can purchase fresh produce, meats, eggs or honey in Waushara County. Locations of Waushara Farm Fresh Producers can also be found at http://waushara.uwex.edu/agriculture/local-farms/.

In 2015 the Waushara Food Connections worked with St. Marks and Sacred Heart Churches in Redgranite to create the village’s first community garden at 228 Church Street. To maximize fresh fruit and vegetable production the square foot gardening method is used. To find out about available planting beds which cost only $2.50 for the season, call 920-566-4442. There is also a Wautoma Community Garden located at Grace United Methodist Church, N2133 Southgate Terrace, Wautoma. For more information about getting an affordable planting bed for your own garden, call 920-787-4668.

Waushara Food Connections and Vision 2020 are part of The Waushara Prevention Council, Inc. which is a non-profit network of community members and organizations who collaborate and advocate for effective prevention programs serving Waushara County. For more information visit www.wausharapreventioncouncil.org call 920-787-6600.
