Recent Highlights for FSC’s Upward Bound
As the last day of school gets closer, Forward Service Corporation’s Upward Bound Central program serving Waushara has been busy with field trips, celebrating our seniors, and planning for the 2016 summer program!
On April 8th, students visited Marian University and UW-Whitewater, taking a campus tour and attending an admissions presentation at each. Upward Bound students met with current UW-Whitewater students to ask questions about campus life and making the transition from high school to college. Topping off the trip, students got to experience a performance of Peter Pan at the Fireside Dinner Theater in Fort Atkinson, WI. It was a full day but got students excited to discuss their experiences and future plans.
We celebrated our seniors across the Upward Bound Central area on May 4, 2016, giving them a chance to reflect on past summer programs and trips, connect with other seniors going to college, get all last minute college questions answered, and receive information regarding the next steps for their financial aid. It was a wonderful evening shared with many laughs!
Forward Service Corporation is sponsoring a number of young ladies at the National Girls in STEM Conference on May 19-22 in Wichita, KS. Students will participate in hands-on activities in university laboratories; learn about science, technology, engineering, and math majors, colleges and careers; discuss current STEM issues; network with other students; listen to motivational speakers; and connect with leading women in STEM industries.
Our 2016 Summer Program will be held this year at St. Norbert College in De Pere, WI and will run from June 12th-July 22nd. We have wonderful teachers, fantastic speakers, on- and off-campus events, community service, and enrichment opportunities packed into our six weeks together. Our last week will be spent traveling to and exploring the city of St. Louis, MO.
