Vision: Exploring unmet needs, services, and existing services, opportunities.

Articles-

The following articles are set:

January – 2015 Year in Review – Amanda

February – Fall prevention in the winter months – Amanda

March – A+ program, Deb will collaborate with Amanda and Pat.

April – AARP, Senior Driving Classes – Helen

May – Food Drive at all Senior Dining Centers – Amanda

June –

July – Report on Food Drive and Food Pantry’s – Amanda

August – Alzheimer’s Awareness Month – Ask Sue Seefeldt about writing an article

September – Article will be written about the upcoming Community Fair – Deb and Amanda

October – Article on Parks and availability of things for seniors

November – Diabetes Awareness Month – Public Health?

December –

 

**These articles can be submitted to Amanda at any time. She will program them as to when they are due at the Argus.

 

**Membership Agreements were signed by committee members. These are for the Waushara Prevention Council.

 

1). Article Ideas for 2016

  1. 2 articles each year for the prevention pointers

 February Prevention Pointer – Paul Theyel will write an article on Depression and the elderly. Amanda will let Pat know when the article is due and she will tell Paul.

 

2). Surveys from the Community Fair

  1. Members looked at the survey summary and the following action will be taken:
    1. Deb will talk to Carole about offering a painting class.
    2. Deb will ask Karen about having a program on adult coloring. She will also see if Trever in public health might want to speak at the meal sites.
  • Deb. Will spread the word that if people are interested in a computer class to check with Fox Valley Technical College.
  1. Have a sign in the room where flu shots are given as to what booth has the blood pressure checks.
  2. Talked about having a pharmacist at the next Fair. Deb had contacted them this year but no one was available.

 

3). Areas of Priorities for 2016 (Prevention Council meeting)

  1. Older adults and technology?
  1. A+ program
  2. Trails and parks assessment

 

4). Increasing members – Tabled till the next meeting. Think of possible members outside of the Wautoma Area.

  

5). Active Aging webpage updates – Amanda passed around an update. Committee members thought that it looked good.

 

6). 2015 Annual Report – Amanda is working on this.

  • Increase Membership
  • Trails and Parks Assessment
  • Update on Carole and Trever

 

Next meeting:  Feb. 9 from 2:00 to 3:00 at Waushara Senior Community Center
