Meeting Notes

Mary called the meeting to order at 1:15pm

 

Alliance for WI Youth – Mary – shared a handout on Cultural Competency.  It was shared that AdaptPharma with the Clinton Foundation is working to get Naloxone (Narcan) into the schools.  Schools must follow Admin Code 118.29.  School Boards will make the final determination of participation.  Patti W shared info about Naloxone and how it works.  Watch this youtube video   showing how Naloxone works      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U1frPJoWtkw

Northwoods Coalition Meeting – Mary – Annual meeting June 14-15

 

AmeriCorps Update – Eli – working on a marketing brochure for HCHY and radio PSAs for Prevention Council and volunteerism.

 

Health Dept. – Rae Luca introduced herself and will be working on the Adolescent Grant.

 

Budget Report –Current balance of $12,236.85.

 

Funding Requests – Requests received from:   Health Dept – $500 for Bike Rodeo. Motion by Brianna, 2nd by MaryAnn. Approved

Leon Saxeville Library – $256 for Story Walk. Motion by Tony, 2nd by Patti.  Approved

Dept of Human Services – $350 for Summer Camp. Motion by MaryAnn, 2nd by Trevor. Approved

 

Blue Ribbon Kids Day – Attendance down this year from 900 to 723 (possibly doue to poor weather).  Next year will be 25th year – committee will be looking for something new and different.

 

Parents Who Host – Mary still has more materials available.  Ashley is working on an article as well as getting window clings into business that sell alcohol.

Question was raised about a recent underage party where no adult was charged.

 

 FACTS – Monday, April 18th, Human Trafficking, Speakers – Nancy Irizarry – WI DHS, Patti Crump – Green Lake Sensitive Crimes Detective, Sherriff Jeff Nett.    43 registered

 

Drug Take Back Day – Saturday, April 30, 10am-1pm, Hancock EMS Station 10am – 1pm.

Future idea – door hanger reminders in community where Take Back is being held.  Plastic pill bottles can be recycled by UWEX’s FCE group.

 

Healthy Babies Workshop – Topic – ACES, 74 present.  Sue would like to see entire DHS staff trained.  Wild Rose had a presentation for their elementary faculty.  35 Wautoma staff participated in training by CESA 5.  Mary will send speaker contact info to school members present.

 

Legislative Breakfast – Save the dates are available.  Noted that attendance will be by invite only.  Planning is going well, waiting for legislators to respond.  Mary will follow up with them,  may 20th at Waushara Country Club.
