Parents Who Host Lose the Most

Did you know?

  • 4% of students have had a drink of alcohol in their lives
  • 6% of student reported drinking alcohol within the last 30 days
  • 2% of students reported binge drinking in the last 30 days (5 or more drinks in a row)

(Data from the 2016 Waushara County Youth Risk Behavior Survey)

With the graduation season coming up, the Waushara Prevention Council would like to remind parents of the Parents Who Host Lose the Most campaign. The Parents Who Host Lose the Most campaign is an activity of the Wisconsin Drug Free Action Alliance. It’s goal is to help prevent underage drinking by educating communities and parents about the health and safety risks of serving alcohol at teen parties. Adults can even be criminally prosecuted for hosting teen alcohol parties and be liable for injuries and property damage that may result from providing alcohol to teens

Some tips for parents this graduation season:

  • Host alcohol free, safe activities for your child.
  • Refuse to supply alcohol to youth or to allow drinking on your property.
  • Be home when your teenager has a party.
  • Talk to the parents of your child’s friends before allowing them to attend a party.
  • If you become aware of an underage drinking party, report it immediately.
