Areas of Priorities for 2017

  1. Buddy Up and Read program.  With the school year done, this program will resume in fall.  We changed the Active Aging article to put the acivities for senior center in August to have a section for the Buddy Up and Read.
  2. Food Drive.  The annual food drive will run from June 5 to June 30.  Amanda will be sending the boxes to the meal sites except Wautoma.  Deb will provide boxes for Wautoma meal site and Core Quest.  We will decide at June meeting who will pick up at what locations for the end of the drive.
  3. Trails & Parks Assessment: Visits set for May and June.
  4. Healthy Aging Website. Amanda reported that the website will include all for-profit and non-profit entities.  The website will also include Neshkoro and Berlin offerings. The tab “Get Involved” needs a different title.
  5. Community Fair: Discussion about the flu shots and giving numbers out instead of lines. It was agreed to use the number system.  Committee agreed on getting a basket together as a door price based of number of booths visited.  Discussion on having Dennis be “MC” to announce different booths/companies represented there as well as calling the number blocks out for the shots. Deb will check with La Clinca about doing the glucose checks this year.
  6. Update Active Aging brochure : Amanda will be taking pictures as we do park

assessments to be used in the brochure and website.

Tom brought an exercise routine that is used at Heartland House.  He would be willing to lead the routine.  Deb noted that the Senior Center currently has exercise programs Mon-Thurs. in the morning.  The feeling was this would work best in the morning hours. Auttum suggested maybe the demonstration room at the court house.
