Introductions- Welcoming everyone

Financial Report: There was a big increase in the HCHY report due to the Block grant being added for 2017. Discussion for the “Youth Actives” in the previous years  – it was used for youth actives at the libraries. The “Link ‘n Learn” section was in question what should be used for since it is no longer an active program. Jill suggested naming it for trainings. Jan was wondering if it was “ours” or left over registration money or if it was given for a specific purpose. Brenna suggested using it for youth focus events. Possibly transferring it to an “other” category. This will be added to the next agenda for further discussion.

Chamber News: None

Business after Five: Auttum stated she talked about Active Aging a lot due to the age that visited the booth and had some interest. Jan shared she had met a young lady that went to school for marketing and is interested in volunteering her time to the council. Next BA5 is on March 15th at Hometown Bank Peggy stated she would be there with the display board.

Committee Reports: V2020- Jan wanted feedback from the members on what everyone thought when they heard the name Vision 2020. Patrick stated “what the program will look like in 2020”. Majority agreed that when they heard of the name it made them think of an Eye Program. Is this still a good representation of the program?  Jan also shared they are almost at 100 likes on Facebook and trying to increase the likes with more posts. The food connection committee hasn’t met since July 2016 but will start back up meeting again to prepare for the community gardens in the summer.

Plunge into Waushara County Economics: Jan shared how the day went. She also shared something that she thought was very interesting is lower income families cost the insurance companies more money. The lower income families tend to file more claims. Also the people who do not have good credit cost the insurance companies more money. The CHAT group will meet again in late March. The CHAT group is looking for more awareness of the volunteering opportunities in the community. They are also looking into Trauma informed care. Judy suggested the Argus to do a Volunteer column.

Prevention Pointers:  The deadline for turning in is now the previous Wednesday of the date. Please send to the Argus and CC Auttum ( Auttum.Powell@Co.Waushara.wi.us). Auttum will upload to the website.

Blue Ribbon Kids Day Booth: Held on April 1st this year starts at 8:30am. This is the 25th year for the event. Typically 800-1000 people attend. Asking for 2 volunteers to do a split shift for the booth.

8:30-10:30 Kelly Borchardt

10:30-12:30 Hans Brammer

Peggy has her own booth for the event but would like to display WPC flyers at her booth.

The council’s flow chart with the member interest survey was handed out and discussed on where it should be given out to benefit. Jill shared the information chart she made.

Discussion of a better way to get volunteer opportunities out to the members. Some members may want to be part of the council but can’t sit in the meeting and would only like to participate in the volunteering. Possibly do a rotating schedule on volunteer actives so the same people aren’t doing the same ones each year.

  • July 1st is freedom fest at the fairgrounds 4:30-dusk
    • Possibly walking around to the cars that people sit at to collect more if we have enough volunteers at both gates.
