Meeting Minutes

May 2, 2017

 

Present –Mary LaBlanc (DHS), Jill Wilbert (CAP Services), Kelly Borchardt (Childcaring), Judy Meier (community member), Corey Jungwirth (Family Health LaClinica), Amanda Kutcher (ADRC) Mary Ann Schilling (UW-Extension)

 

Network and Share time –

Call to Order – Introductions – (12:40 pm)

 

Approval Agenda and Minutes – Motion to accept agenda with one change (remove #3 Community Inclusion/Diversity).  Meier motions, Schilling seconds.  All in favor, motion carries.  Motion to accept minutes by Wilbert, Meier seconds.  All in favor, motion carries.

 

Financial Report – Report was discussed.  It was decided to combine Link n Learn dollars ($1,152.36) into Youth Activities ($211.84) and change the line item to Family Activities.  We discussed the possibility of allocating the funding to UW-Extension for Mary Ann Schilling to offer Raising a Thinking Child to include meals and child care.  This is a multi-session course.

 

Correspondence/Chamber of Commerce/BA5 – Next BA5 is scheduled for Tuesday, May 16 at Chiropractic Adjustments and OILicians at 5:00pm.  Mary Ann Schilling thought she would be able to attend.

 

Committee Reports: Mary LaBlanc reported 171.5 lbs. of prescription medications were collected for Drug Take Back Day on April 29 in Redgranite.  Mary Ann Schilling said the HCHY Spring FACTS Dinner went very well with both parents and some teens present.  The Screenagers video was viewed followed by open discussion within small groups.

 

Old Business

Blue Ribbon Kids Day Report – Mary LaBlanc shared information from Jan Novak.  978 attendees and 84 volunteers.  200 went through Fire Safety House and 200 were fingerprinted with ID kits.  450 received free children’s books.

 

Annual Report – nothing to share at this time per Jan Novak

Prevention Pointer/Public Awareness Articles – Send articles to Argus and Auttum Powell.

June 20 – due June 14:  Corey Jungwirth, LaClinica – accessing services & preventative care

June 27 – due June 21:  Jan Novak (Freedom Fest)  ??

July 4 – due June 28: Health Dept (maybe suncreeen, ticks, bed bugs) (Amanda will follow up) ??

We are asking members to consider submitting a 250 word article for the open slots.  Please let Amanda Kutcher know:  amanda.kutcher@co.waushara.wi.us

 

Freedom Fest
July 1st with parade starting at 5pm instead of the usual 4pm.  We need someone to chair this effort and more volunteers to collect $ during fireworks.  Mary LaBlanc will check with Hans Brammer to see if he has other mentors who might be available.

 

 

Council Member Reports:

Kelly (Childcaring) – Kelly gave Reach and Read information to Corey Jungwirth from LaClinica to follow up on discussion from March meeting. She also shared current newsletter and discussed recruitment efforts to increase the number of regulated child care providers.
